...
Dudes, was there ever a band in the history of rock and roll that cut as cool a silhouette as Roxy Music?
Any band that can do THIS and THIS equally well, demands your respect.

Scientific Research
I’ve been engaged in some serious scientific research into the wiggliness of children.
Thanks, everyone for stopping by so often to read about my misadventures in parenting. There are kind of a lot of you following, and you know way more about me than I do about you. If you guys are drawing fun things too, leave a comment below so I can see what you're up to. Take care!

Movember Rain
My Movember mustache has been frightening my children. Luckily the month is over, and we are all a little more aware of men's health issues.

Happy Anniversary
Making Babies from Anthony Holden on Vimeo.
Today my dear wife and I celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary, so I made her this little cartoon to apologize for impregnating her again.
On the plus side, more children means that probably more and funnier family comics are on the way. Stay tuned!

Comics!! (in an easily digestible anthology)
Hey, everybody! Remember that time when my family moved to Portland, and then I never posted any more drawings ever again? Well that time is through! Here are some drawings of a comic I've been working on. Some friends and I have put a comics anthology together. If you dig, you can support us on Kickstarter HERE.
Thanks, and I hope to get back to posting regularly again soon!!

Print Give-Away! Apple Dames
Print Give-Away Contest!
Hiya, folks, how’s everything? We’re still getting settled in Portland, and
my studio stuff is all still in boxes on a moving truck right now—so no new
drawings to speak of, BUT I do have 3 copies of the Apple Dames print that are
available, 12"X18" matte on archival photo paper, ready to frame and hang on your wall!
For those of you who are new here, you should probably know that
I’m kind of obsessed with giving things away.
To enter yourself in the drawing, just like my facebook page and like or leave a
comment on THIS IMAGE.
Good luck, and hopefully I’ll have more new stuff up soon!!

Holdens on the Move!
Guess what, everybody? We're moving to Oregon! These past couple of years at DreamWorks has been amazing and leaving is bittersweet, but opportunity has come a'knocking and we are northward bound. I'm very excited to be starting at Laika soon and I hope to be back on my bicycle and posting more cartoons when we get settled in.
Take care of the internet while I'm gone! (And don't forget to feed the fish.)

How To Make Animated GIFs: a Brief Tutorial
Dudes and dudettes of internetville,
In my spare time, I'm making a lot of looping gifs these days. I've been hearing from lots of folks who want to know how I'm making these little moving images. Making them has been so much fun, so I figured I'd try and share a little of what I know. Keep in mind that this is, of course, just ONE WAY of making animated gifs, so it's hardly authoritative or exhaustive. Mostly it's just a working method that I've discovered--and it's bound to change over time. I'll update again when I figure out some new things. "Like" my page on Facebook to check out when I'm putting stuff like this up. Also, feel free to drop a line and ask questions about whatever.
Until then, on to the show!

Father's Day Doodles!
I'm not being trite when I say that being a father is the very (second)* best thing that has ever happened to me. Everyday I am thankful to God that I am able to live life with those that I love--and to make drawings with them on occasion.
My four year-old son, Sawyer, has grown increasingly interested in drawing over the last year or so, and I love sitting with him to talk and draw. The mark-making of a four year-old is so intuitive and unrestrained by ideas of what's "right." It is really freeing to sit and talk with him, and then explain our drawings to each other when we're done. Frankly, I love that he's never offended when I ask him what he drew. I've made it something of a personal goal to become a little more fearless when making things.
Happy Father's Day to my family! Thanks for making me a daddy. I love you!

*Incidentally, the very best thing that ever happened to me is that I somehow convinced my wife to marry me. She is as talented as she is lovely--and a heck of a cook. Check out her blog for delicious vegan treats and more pictures of my adorable children. I love you, my dear!

One Piece: Usopp

More One Piece Fan Art! This week: Usopp. I think he get's a bad rap, when he's actually a totally stand-up dude.
If you're looking for other OP characters (since that's apparently all I draw these days), you can find Nami here and Zoro here. In time I hope to get to all the Strawhats... but who knows how long that will take? :)

Happy Mother's Day!
I'm a day late, but that's because we were busy having a memorable Mother's Day at our house yesterday.
Thank you, Allison, for being the wonderful mother of my two little monkeys!
You may not have known this, but my wife is also a world-class vegan chef. I know, because raising children wasn't enough of an accomplishment. Yeah, she's amazing like that.

Airport Sketches
A little while ago, I flew up to Portland. I don't get to fly without my family very often, so I took the opportunity to do a lot of sketching at the airport. I love all the cool stuff you see at airports. The tarmac is full of vehicles that I have no idea what they're even for--so fun to draw.
Also, I'm in love with the Lamy Safari, a basic but really cool pen.
Sketches are done with fountain pen on color copy paper, in my hand made found-materials sketchbook.
Slideshow version HERE.
